Falmouth
The next meeting of Falmouth Friends of the Earth (FalFoE) is on Thursday 1st Feb at 8.00pm at Miss Peapods Kitchen Cafe, at the Zed Shed, Jubilee Wharf, Penryn - the greenest place to live in the UK according to the Guardians Jonathan Glancey!
Marine Biologist Miles Hoskin will be telling us about the scallop dedging situation in Falmouth Bay and we will be firming up plans for two Car Free Falmouth events.
FalFoE is involved in environmental campaigning in Falmouth, Penryn and in the villages and countryside around and about the Fal and Helford rivers.
There's never a dull moment as spectacular Falmouth Harbour and Bay is too tempting a backdrop for barmy developers' machinations ….!
Our main areas of work at the moment are on climate change and preventing ship-to-ship crude oil transfers taking place in the Bay. We have recently published our blueprint for a car free town centre and are now building support for the campaign.
We're also involved in lots of other things - helping to keep Cornwall nuclear free, planning issues in the two towns, attempts to get proper allotment provision for the area etc. New members are always very welcome – however little or much you can contribute.
Membership is by minimum suggested amount of just £5.00 per annum or up to £20.00 if you can afford it.
