FOE Briefings Friends of the Earth has published
a report on recycling and four briefings on waste. The publications are the following: - Recycling in Action: This report details 15 leading and innovative recycling schemes across England and Wales. It is intended to help persuade local councillors to set high recycling targets, and is full of interesting ideas on how to achieve these. The report was written by the Community Recycling Network for Friends of the Earth. Funding for Municipal Waste Management: This briefing examines the various sources of funding for waste management - government funding through the standard spending assessment and specific funds, as well as Private Finance Initiative funding. Main EU Directives on Waste: This briefing summarises the directives on landfill, biological waste, incineration, packaging waste, electrical and electronic waste, and vehicles waste. The briefing also looks at the implications of the directives for the UK and gives Friends of the Earth's view on each of them. Highlights of Waste Strategy 2000: This briefing summarises the Waste Strategy, particularly in relation to municipal waste, and outlines Friends of the Earth's view on the strategy. Waste Management Methods: This briefing looks at recycling, composting, landfill and the various energy from waste methods, including incineration. The briefing also gives Friends of the Earth's view on each management method.
